We have a rich history of the Dances in Latvia. Vasudeva from Russia brought the Dances in early 1990, but the first big gathering in the 1991 in Riga Secondary school Nr 34 took place in the sports hall. We had around 80 people joining hands and hearts for the first time in the circle.
The first DUP UNICORN camp in Latvia was organised in 1995 by James Burgess and his followers. There was a sequence of his camps till 2003. James was inviting other teachers to participate, so we had Glenda & Trevor (UK), Barbara Sitara& Daren (UK, Germany), Silje Devi and Maris (Estonia), Maliqa (UK), Shafia (now New Zealand) in our camps.

ATMAN camps

After James stopped organising camps there had been no camps in Latvia for 3 years, until in 2006 a local teacher Fatima started a new sequence. Her and Bashiran's company "Atman" organised 3 camps all together.
In the first camp in 2006 there was invited Ralph Nimmann (UK) as a main teacher, in 2007 - Silje Devi (Estonia), in 2008 Wali & Arienna(Belgium) and besides them Karima and Shahodat (Russia), Prem & Sally (New Zealand).

Dancing heart camps
Dancing heart camps by Yelena and company
The ongoing Dancing Heart Camp was initiated by Yelena and Vitalija in 2009 with the powerful transmisson ceremony at the last Atman camp.
This camp is running since 2009 mostly by Yelena and the team, except for some years when we had Erasmus camp co-organized with Victoria and 2 camps in Aglona.
Our main invited guest mentor is Shamsia Sunfire from Wales who is supporting us throughout our Dance leading journey since the beginning of the Dancing heart camps, and our dear guest and permanent dance leader from Estonia - Silje Devi, as well as Prem Provan from New Zealand.
We had Narayan (USA), Maris Dakini (Estonia/UK), Shafia Stevens (UK/New Zealand), Barbara Sitara and Daren (UK), Fateah (Scotland), Matthew (UK), Gulzar (UK), Aliela (Russia/Israel), Cajsa (Sweden) as well as Czech, Belgium, Frech, Dutch, Italian and Spanish dance leaders visiting us in Latvia.
